The Buford Veterans Memorial

A Permanent Tribute to Honor, Sacrifice, and Patriotism

A Tribute Worthy of Their Service

Some sacrifices can’t be repaid — only honored. The Buford Veterans Memorial is being built to do exactly that: give our community a permanent, dignified place to recognize the men and women who have served and protected us, in uniform and on the home front alike.

Designed by the National Foundation of Patriotism in partnership with the City of Buford, this memorial brings together powerful sculptural elements, each one chosen to represent a different piece of the story of American service. Together, they create a space for reflection, remembrance, and gratitude that will stand for generations.

Six Military Branch Monuments

Six granite pillars, each standing 6 feet tall, will rise side by side to represent every branch of the United States Armed Forces — the Army, Navy, Air Force, Marines, Coast Guard, and Space Force.

Each pillar stands as its own tribute, built to endure for decades. Together, they form a unified statement: every branch, every mission, every servicemember who answered the call is honored equally and permanently on this ground.

First Responders Obelisk

Standing 10 feet tall, this striking granite obelisk is dedicated to the men and women who protect and serve Buford every single day — Law Enforcement, Fire, Emergency Medical Services, and Search & Rescue.

Their heroism doesn’t always make headlines, and it doesn’t require a battlefield. It happens on our streets, in our homes, and in our moments of greatest need. This obelisk ensures that service is given the same permanent recognition as those who serve overseas.

Bronze American Eagle

Soaring above the memorial grounds, an 8-foot wingspan bronze American Eagle will serve as the visual centerpiece of the entire memorial — a timeless symbol of freedom, strength, and national pride.

Positioned to be seen from across the great lawn, the eagle is more than a sculpture. It’s a statement: this is a place built to inspire, not just remember.

The Peace Ball

At the heart of the memorial sits a powerful, contemplative sculpture representing our nation’s highest and most hard-earned aspiration: peace.

Not passive peace — peace through strength, vigilance, and the willingness of brave individuals to defend it. The Peace Ball gives visitors a quiet place to pause, reflect, and consider the true cost of the freedoms we often take for granted.

A Complete Story, Told in Granite and Bronze

Every element of the Buford Veterans Memorial was chosen with intention. The branch monuments honor those who served in uniform. The obelisk honors those who serve and protect at home. The eagle represents the freedom that service protects. And the Peace Ball represents why all of it matters — peace, earned and defended.

Walked together, in sequence, the memorial doesn’t just list who is being honored. It tells the story of why.

Be Part of Building It

This memorial is being funded entirely through the generosity of individuals, families, and businesses who believe Buford’s heroes deserve to be permanently honored. Every gift — large or small — helps move us closer to dedication day.
